Where do you find Sprayed Asbestos Coatings?
When it was being applied it was very easy to overspray or get a ‘splash back’ from the equipment used to spray this on, so there is very likely to be some debris around the sprayed area.
What does a Sprayed Asbestos Coating look like?
Usually white or grey in colour with a rough surface, although sprayed asbestos may have been painted since, it remains a highly dangerous substance and should not be handled by anyone other than a professional HSE licensed company such as ourselves.
Our company specialises in the surveying and removal of asbestos products from all types of buildings where it was used. If you suspect that you have found asbestos that has been sprayed on, but need it confirmed, removed or both. Please get in contact and one of our friendly team will discuss the options and what needs to be done.
How dangerous is a Sprayed Asbestos Coating?
This contains up to 85% asbestos and breaks up very easily.
It is one of the most dangerous materials containing asbestos.
Even minor disturbance of sprayed coatings can release large quantities of asbestos fibres into the air where they can be breathed in.
Asbestos fibres are at their most dangerous when they are airborne and therefore can be breathed in. If you find or suspect you have found it. Leaving the insulation undisturbed until we can survey and test a sample greatly reduces the risk of exposure.
This type of asbestos material must be notified to the HSE upon its detection and handled / removed only by fully licensed HSE contractors, of which we are, and have been for over 35 consecutive years.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WORK ON OR REMOVE THIS MATERIAL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
